Eil, A tribe in Iranian nomadic society is a political union composed of nomadic clans and tribes that joined together based on kinship affiliations (relative, causal and ideal) or at a specific time, according to political and social interests and needs, and formed a tribe . Usually, Eilat had its own land and territory and was administered under personal leadership and management with the position of Ilkhan or Ilbey. Among the largest tribes in Iran we can mention the Bakhtiari tribe, the Kalhor tribe, and the Qashqai tribe.

In general, a clan refers to a group of tribes living in the area considered territory of that clan. Clans are not necessarily related to each other and their customs and way of life may also differ, although in most cases there is kinship and homogeneity in customs and way of life.

Ilat Khamsa or the Five Tribes was a tribal confederation composed of five tribes with different ethnic origins from the Fars region, which was formed in 1860 according to certain political, economic and military purposes by order of the central government: Baharlu and Nafar; The Fars tribe was composed of the Baseri and the Arab tribe. The Khamsa tribe was the second largest tribal group in Fars, after the Qashqai tribe.
